INTRODUCTION

Carmet Tug Company Ltd was founded in 1971 by Captain Ian Metcalfe and Captain Mike Carrier and since that time has carried out successful tows of all types of floating plant.  These include large cutter suction dredgers, bucket dredgers, floating cranes, hopper barges and a variety of civil engineering equipment, all safely delivered to many destinations throughout Britain and Europe.  Disabled vessels have also been picked up on contract tow in all weather conditions from the Western Approaches and Irish Sea, and safely delivered to ports of refuge.  Long-term contracts have been undertaken for dredging and civil engineering companies on a variety of major projects.

Our fleet consists of the girl class tug ‘Audrey’, the pushy tug ‘Vigour’ & the four Manchester Ship Canal tugs, ‘M.S.C. Victory’, ‘M.S.C. Viking’, ‘M.S.C, Volant’ and ‘M.S.C. Viceroy’ which we operate for Peel Holdings Ltd.  We provide all towage operations on the Manchester Ship Canal and are therefore fully conversant with the requirements of harbour towing.  In addition to the above we have the pilot launch ‘Venom’, River Survey Boat ‘Aestus’and a number of smaller vessels, launches, workboats, we also operate our barge ‘Samson’.
