Introduction

Carmet Tug Company was founded in 1971 by Captain Ian Metcalfe and Captain Mike Carrier, and is one of only a handful of independently owned tug companies operating in British waters.  Over the past 30 years, Carmet have towed a wide variety of floating plant and civil engineering equipment to & from destinations throughout Britain & Europe.

In addition to a large number of long term civil engineering contracts carried out during this time, Carmet have frequently been involved in salvage operations, the vessels concerned being safely delivered to ports of refuge.

Currently Carmet operate a mixed fleet,  tugs, launches, work boats and barges, in addition we are the sole towage contractor on the Manchester Ship Canal, operating the four traffic tugs on behalf of Peel Holdings Ltd.
